Long Awaited Receipt Pictures Have Come to Mobile (Torch Project Management)

Thursday, September 20th, 2012

About a year ago, I announced a feature that allows the mobile user on Torch Project Management to take a picture of a receipt and attach it the expense. Which was great for Android users on Ice Cream Sandwich, but that was a very small number of people. With the release of iOS 6, the number of people has greatly increased.

Here's how it works (on ICS):

Under the expense area, add an expense and press "Add Receipt":

Take the picture:

The receipt is now attached:

Under iOS it works the same way:

Press "Add Receipt":

Take the picture and the receipt is now attached:

Attach Receipts to your Expenses from your Android 3 Device (by taking a picture)

Wednesday, June 22nd, 2011

Great new feature in Torch Project Management's Offline Mobile Access: When you are out at a store and you buy that item you want to expense; take a picture of the receipt!

When you are adding an expense in the offline app, a new button will appear at the bottom:

Clicking the "Add Receipt..." button will pop up this dialog (on Android 3.0 and higher):

You can then take a picture of the receipt and save the expenses. If you are offline, the app will sync with Torch once you are back online.

This is implemented with the new media capture api, which is a w3 standard. So, at the moment it only works with Android, but it should be coming to other platforms as well.
