Convert vCards to CSV

Friday, June 3rd, 2011

We now offer an easier way to convert your Apple Address Book vCards to CSV so that you can import them into Heap CRM. It just takes three steps:

1) Download the vCards App >
2) Drag the vCards file you want to convert onto the vCards App

3) A new CSV file will appear

If you are using Microsoft Outlook (which produces a vCard for every contact instead of a single vCard), you can still use this tool:

1) Download the vCards App >
2) Drag the selection of contacts out of Outlook to create vCard files

3) Select all of the vCards and drag them onto the vCards App

4) A new CSV file will appear

Major Feature Release: Automation – Evaluate the Description Box of an Event (Heap CRM)

Wednesday, May 25th, 2011

This is a major upgrade to Heap CRM’s powerful automation tools. Now you can evaluate any set of email commands on any schedule (this works analogously to email templates). Just create an event, fill the commands into the description and select “Execute description box”.

Automation Start

But, you can also include these commands in event templates:

Event Templates

If the event is associated to a prospect, you can use variables (and the commands will apply to that prospect):

You can also import events in CSV format and set the email template to "automate". Or you could import event templates from a CSV and set the email template to field to "automate".

With this combination of tools, you can do just about anything on a schedule.

Import Events/Tasks into Torch Project Management via CSV

Thursday, May 12th, 2011

Torch Project Management now supports importing of events via CSV (import under the calendar tab):

CSV Header

To keep it simple, there is only one required field: title. Just like in the app, the start and end time is parsed directly from the title field (if they exist at all). If the item doesn't have a date, it is considered a task. However, all fields are supported, including pinned.

The import format matches the event CSV export added to TorchCL in March.

Early Changes to Torch as a Consequence of Survey Results

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

We heard you loud and clear! Torch Project Management users want better integration with accounting tools. We've just released a group of features to help remedy this:

  • Better Time Exporting
  • Unbilled Time Total
  • Invoice Data Exporting

Time, Better

Ok, there is now an indicator on the bottom of every time page showing the amount of unbilled time in that view (whether you're viewing a category or all time across the project):

You can also now export unbilled time separately from billed time. And if you need all the time across all active projects (projects that aren't archived), that's available as well:

Export Invoice Data

You can now export your invoice transactions in a number of ways:

Some of these are for the accounting types. Some are for everyone. Let us know what you think.

Please note, an invoice is not considered a transaction until it is sent to the customer. So invoices that haven't been sent yet will not show up in these exports.

We've looked at a lot of accounting software over the last week and we still haven't found that perfect app to integrate with. If you have any recommendations, please let us know.

Enhanced Reports in Heap CRM

Monday, November 26th, 2007

We've just enhanced the reports in Heap CRM. Reports have always been simple in Heap, but there was never a way to see the data used to generate the report item; now there is. Next to each item in the report there is a person icon.

Reports 1

Clicking on the icon will reveal the leads, opportunities or customers that contributed to that number on the report.

Reports 2

You can also export this data as a CSV (for use in Numbers, Google Docs, OpenOffice or Excel).

Also, we have added an extremely minor (but often requested) feature worth mentioning: Import Undo. This is probably of little use to our existing users, however for new users learning to use our import system, we hope this will save you some time.
