Collapsable Prospect Details Page

Monday, October 13th, 2008

You can now collapse the main sections of the details page for leads, opportunity, customers and archives in Heap CRM.

This should allow you to move extremely large prospects much faster.

Heap CRM / Torch Project Management Integration

Saturday, August 30th, 2008

You can now create Torch projects (and users) directly from Heap CRM. Or, associate an existing project to Heap.

First, fill out your information under the users tab.

Now, under any lead, opportunity, customer or archive you can add a project. Heap will automatically create "external users" (and grant access to the project) for both the primary contact and any related people.

Now you can easily see what projects are related to a particular lead, opportunity, customer or archive.

Heap CRM Now Supports Google Docs

Tuesday, July 1st, 2008

You can now link, create and upload Google Docs directly from Heap CRM (which also means you can tie them to particular leads, opportunities, customers and archives).

Here is the box you see when you post a message:

Click on the "Add a Google Doc" button:

From here you can link to an existing Google Doc, or create a new document, spreadsheet or presentation (these options are at the bottom of the drop down). Or you can click on "Upload a File" and switch to upload a Google Docs compatible file from your computer.

Clicking the "Link a File" link will switch you back to the list of Google Docs.

Before you can do any of this, you need to setup your connection to Google. From the messages page, look under the "Import" menu.

Click the "Setup Google Connection" button to allow Heap to access your Google Docs.

The JavaScript Add-On API for Heap CRM

Wednesday, June 25th, 2008

The Add-On API is quite simply the most important feature enhancement we have ever released for Heap CRM. With it (and knowledge of JavaScript), any developer can create new features and functions for Heap.

An Add-On can interact with Heap data, store their own data and interact with other websites. In short, they can do everything they need to do directly from JavaScript.

Developers can learn more here. Admin users of all three lines of Heap CRM can install Add-Ons from the Settings->Account screen. Once installed each Add-On will appear as a tab within Heap.

The New Heap CRM Dashboard

Saturday, March 8th, 2008

We've made a number of enhancements to the dashboard. First you can now move uncompleted events from the previous two weeks to the dashboard calendar. Also you will notice that we now show the five most recent messages for each prospect.

Save Search to Category with Heap CRM

Ever want to put all of your search results in a category; now you can with save search to category.

Here's how it works. When you search people or leads, opportunities, customers and archives just click on the "save to category" button and all of your search results will be added to that category. You can even create a new category right there on the fly.

If you are searching messages or events, when you click one of the "save search to category" buttons, all of people associated with your search results will be added to that category.

With this tool you can now create temporary (or permanent) categories very quickly.

Send Your Voice to Heap CRM

Sunday, February 3rd, 2008

Ever needed to take a note when you only had a phone? Now you can with Jott. Jott is a service that converts voice messages to text and either sends them in e-mail or forwards them to a web 2.0 application (like Heap).

Here's how you set it up.

1) Sign-up for a Jott account at (it's free)* *(EDIT: This was true when this post was written, however, Jott has started to charge to connect to business services)
2) Go to the tab labeled "Jott Links"
3) Click on the "Add it Here" button on the right
4) OK, fill out this form like so:

New Address Data Detector in Heap CRM

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

Next time you have an address in an e-mail, message, comment, etc. you might notice a small globe similar to this.

Address Data Detector

This is a data detector (Heap's newest) and if you click on it, it takes you to the location on Google Maps straight away.

Address Data Detector

Text fields in Heap are extremely smart. They of course detect things like e-mails and websites, but they also detect more exotic items such as UPS numbers and chat clients.

Very Simple To-Dos in Heap CRM

Sunday, January 27th, 2008

Ever want to create a to-do list within a message? Sure you could use follow-up events, but that's probably an overkill for something like a shopping list. Instead let's use this little trick.

Here's my shopping list:

Costco Shopping List: Copy Paper, Pens, MacBook Air

Ok, one of these I need to draw attention to (with @highlight), because we are completely out and one I already purchased, so I can mark that off (with @done).
