Torch Time and Financial Visualization and Google Visualization Data Source

You can now visualize your underlying data for time entries and financial data in Torch Project Management. Select "visualize" on the time page or expand any of the Google Visualization API data source sections on the invoice export page:

You will see a visualization report that looks like this:

Torch is also now a Google Visualization API data source. Which means you can analyze Torch data in numerous Google Visualization gadgets; you can even build your own.

You can now visualize your underlying data for both standard and advanced search reports in Heap CRM. Select "visualize" from list mode on the standard report or summery report in advanced search reports:

You can also take the data directly into Google Docs to perform custom visualizations:

Heap is also now a Google Visualization API data source. Which means you can analyze Heap data in numerous Google Visualization gadgets; you can even build your own. At the bottom of the advanced search report and report list you can copy this URL.

Difference between the Partners Program and Affiliates Program?

After my post a couple of days ago, I've been inundated with questions that suggest there is some confusion about the difference between the partner program and the affiliates program. This post is intended to clarify.

What is the affiliates program:

This program allows you promote Heap CRM and Torch Project Management on your website, in person or really anywhere you can send a link. If the person signs up for a paying account, you get credit which can be used to pay your monthly bill.

Who can participate:

Anyone who is a hosted customer. You can find your links under the "Settings" tab under the "Affiliates" sub section.

Do I need to sign-up:

No. By just using the links provided you will get credit.

What is the partners program:

Heap CRM and Torch Project Management are also sold as pre-packaged products that can be installed on the customer's server. Partners are a group of IT professionals that can help businesses select the right hardware and provide hardware/software support (backup services/upgrades/etc).

Who can participate:

IT professionals who have experience with MySQL and Apache.

Do I need to sign-up:

Yes. Partners are in a formalized agreement where WBP SYSTEMS.

Torch Project Management Gravatar Support and E-Mail Notification Indicators

Torch now supports gravatars and indicates what recipients will be notified of updates through e-mail alerts. Here is the new message details pages:

What is a gravatar (from the gravatar site):

A gravatar, or globally recognized avatar, is quite simply an image that follows you from site to site appearing beside your name when you do things.

Time Entries and Follow-up Events:

You can now enter and edit time entries and follow-up events much quicker. In the case of follow-up events you can now edit and add them from any view, you no longer have to open the message to enter edit mode.

New iGoogle Mobile Page

Normally, I only post updates to our products on this blog. However, the following is effectively an update to Heap and Torch, we just can't take credit for it.

Last night the Google Mobile team posted an update to the iGoogle for iPhone and Android. What this update means to Heap and Torch users is that the existing Heap and Torch gadgets now work on your mobile device.

Heap CRM Twitter Support

Heap now has three twitter related features:

  • Username detection in all text fields (it looks for sentences that contain statements like "twitter: username" or "twitter is username")
  • Twitter tag detection in all text fields (it looks for words starting with "#")
  • The Twitter drawer on the person page

Take a look at the person page:

When you click on the Twitter drawer you get a timeline that contains all the statuses from all the different accounts the person has:

New Google Gadget for Heap CRM

With the new updated Google Gadget for Heap CRM you can use bucket selectors in search. Additionally the interface has been updated to match the Torch Gadget style.

When you first install the Heap Gadget you will be required to enter a special URL. This URL is available in your Heap’s help section under integration:

Torch Google Gadget

With the Torch Google Gadget you can now see project activity while on iGoogle or anywhere else Google Gadgets are supported.

Use the tabs in the gadget to select what you want to look at:

Also use the pin control (in the upper left) to select whether you are viewing all items or just pinned items:
